Sword of the North
Fact and fiction are hard to separate when it comes to the Naakat, for its people guard their secrets well. They mask the truth with fanciful tales about wandering warrior-kings, women who dance across the midnight sky, refugees from dark sorcerers across the top of the world, and grand stories about how the Naakat moves between worlds, slipping free from those who would do them harm by entering the land of the dead. The most reliable account about the Naakat is from, crusty old vikti seers who claim to have been taught by the Naakat to be able to see and control the Mists.
Qualifying as land only in the loosest sense, the Naakat control the northern plains in nomadic bands, walking through the Mists and snowstorms with seemingly little hindrance. Their camps are tattered messes of ropes, yurts, and a thousand banners. Though a hospitable people in an inhospitable land may seem like a godsend for many, they are equally renowned for their ritual trials by fire for those who seek to enter the safety of their camps.
